“We are entrenched in each community we serve,” Wessel says. Le Peep restaurants support local schools, community organizations and charities. Owners also live in and are closely involved in the communities they serve. “We have great systems and methods of doing things already in place – we want someone who can take those methods and duplicate them successfully,” he adds. Le Peep owners are typically entrepreneurs with previous experience in restaurant management. We allow them options, and allow them to make the decisions that are best for them.” “We believe in giving owners a proven system to adopt instead of requiring them to paint their locations certain colors, purchase from a certain vendor or other things that a franchise would do. “We’re looking for independent operators who don’t need a lot of handholding and want to own their own business,” Wessel says. Each of the restaurant’s 54 locations in 13 states is locally owned and operated by proprietors who license the name, recipes and concept as opposed to a franchise structure. One of Le Peep’s main advantages in the marketplace is its ownership structure. “Our competition in the breakfast and lunch category is getting stiffer, so it’s important that we do it faster, fresher, better and at a competitive price point.” “When we got started, there were just a few restaurants doing this, now it seems like there’s hundreds,” says Kevin Wessel, CEO and president of HW Holdings, the Littleton, Colo.-headquartered company that licenses the Le Peep brand. In the more than 50 years since, Le Peep has expanded beyond its origins and seen growing competition within its niche. and specializing in breakfast and brunch offerings. Pro Tip- If you’re spending time on the water and want to boat in and tie up somewhere for food, Terraza Waterfront Café allows you to do that. The first Le Peep restaurant opened in Aspen, Colo., in 1963, with what was then a unique concept – operating from 6:30 a.m. Don’t miss the chips and guacamole and the spicy margaritas! Everything that I have tried is utterly delicious, and I can’t wait to go back and try more menu items. The food is Mexican/Latin with a creative and modern flair and so well done. Every table has the option for an umbrella, creating the perfect amount of shade when desired. It is located right on the Spokane River allowing guests to experience great views of the lake and mountains and watch boaters driving by. Besides the very high menu prices for this area, I can’t find much that I don’t love about this place. It is owned by the same people who run Fire, a popular pizza place in downtown Coeur d’Alene. Terraza opened in the summer of 2021, and it is making a huge splash in the Coeur d’Alene restaurant scene. The Coeur d’Alene Resort also offers a water shuttle service. Pro Tip– If you are spending time on the water and want to visit The Floating Green Restaurant, you can boat in and tie up at the transient docks. (However, the last time we went the nachos and hamburger didn’t disappoint!) This isn’t a place to go if you’re looking for the best meal in town, but for the scenery, you can’t beat it. While I love this restaurant for its views, I sadly can’t rave about the food and drinks. There are tables with umbrella shades so you don’t get too hot while you eat. You can’t beat the views here with the lake and the mountains. This restaurant is right across from the floating green, making it fun to watch people golf as you eat. (I mean, just look at the view in the picture below!) If you’re into golfing, you’ve probably heard of the famous floating green at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course on Coeur d’Alene Lake. The Floating Green Restaurant gets my vote for the best outdoor dining spot in Coeur d’Alene. Make sure to check them out on your next visit! #1 The Floating Green Restaurant I’ve rounded up a list of the top 6 best outdoor dining spots in Coeur d’Alene (I just couldn’t narrow it down to 5!) for you to enjoy this summer-weighted with a regard to their outdoor ambiance, experience, and my preference for scenery. There is nothing better in my opinion than the sun warming your back while you’re sipping a cocktail and enjoying some good eats. I love restaurants with fantastic outdoor patio areas where I can dine in the fresh air. With summer here, all I want to do is dine outside.
